Clyde and Myra
Clyde Layton Lawrence was born on February 7, 1907 in Trigg County, Kentucky. He was the third of four children of James Robert Lawrence and Lucy Rebecca Mize Lawrence. James Robert was a farmer and was a native of Trigg County. Lucy was a native of Stewart County, Tennessee. Clyde was a descendant of Starkie Thomas and Jemima Bridges Sholar.
Clyde’s siblings were Clarence Colley Lawrence, born in 1900 and married Jettie Bleidt; Will Josh Lawrence, born in 1902 and married Faithy Madelyn Wilson; and Dennis Bernard Lawrence, born in1910 and married Rebecca Ann Mitchell and later married Earline Luzira Shemwell Brown.
Clyde grew up in the Dyers Chapel community of Trigg County and attended the local rural schools. He went on to attend the Cadiz High School where he graduated in 1926.
On March 24, 1934, he married Myra Lou Bridges. Myra was born on May 28, 1911 in the Maple Grove community of Trigg County. She was the second of five children of Jesse Clyde Bridges and Myrt Grace Davis Bridges. Jesse was a farmer and both he and Myrt were natives of Trigg County. Myra was a descendant of Cullen Bridges and Cullen Thomas.
Myra’s siblings were Conrad Hershel Bridges, born in 1909 and married Annie Opal Calhoun; Robert Chappell Bridges, born in 1913 and married Virginia Pearl Mize; Blanche Elaine Bridges, born in 1916 and married Ellis Chaffin Moorefield; and Clyde Taylor “C.T.” Bridges, born in 1920 and married Willa Lee Sharp.
After their marriage, Clyde and Myra settled in the Dyers Chapel community where Clyde had grown up and continued to live for his entire life. Clyde worked as a farmer and as a carpenter. Myra was a homemaker and later worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Trigg County Hospital and at the Shady Lawn Nursing Center.
Clyde and Myra were the parents of one child, a daughter, Grace Lane Lawrence born in 1937 and married Charles Fenton Dawson and later married Dalton Boyd Hancock.
Clyde died on September 29, 1967 at the age of 60 at the Parkview Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He was buried in the Lawrence Cemetery in Trigg County.
Myra married her second husband, James Gaylon Hargrove, on November 23, 1979 in a ceremony at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Gaylon was born on April 16, 1925 in Trigg County, He was the son of Samuel Jones Hargrove and Jewell Douglas Colson Hargrove. Samuel was a farmer and both he and Jewell were natives of Trigg County.
Gaylon had worked as a teacher at the Golden Pond School and also worked as an electrician at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He retired as an employee of Johnson Controls in Cadiz. Myra and Gaylon had no children.
Myra died on May 17, 2007 at the age of 95 at the Christian Health Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She was buried in the Lawrence Cemetery next to her first husband.
Gaylon died on January 16, 2014 at the age of 88 at the Christian Health Center in Hopkinsville. He was buried in the East End Cemetery in Cadiz.

William Allen was the first child of James Henry Lawrence and Elizabeth Sholar. Elizabeth was the fifth child of Allen and Jemima Bridges Sholar. Peyton was the third child of Cullen and Elizabeth Futrell Thomas. Cullen was the first child of James and Mary Standley Thomas.)
